The 2013 elections is just around the corner and many partylists groups are once again showing their intent to run for the coming polls. The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) however, has become stricter with straining existing and elected partylist groups in the House of Representatives.

COMELEC Chairman Sixto Brillantes said that they are now studying the party list groups more carefully especially issues regarding representatives of the marginalized and political dynasty.

Brillantes said that they are questioning the 112 party list groups whose representatives have multi-million pesos net worth and those dynasties represented by family relatives.

Brillantes revealed that 112 party list groups are left from the original 127 after others have decided not to run for the next polls. He also revealed that they have finished screening 89 groups.

The COMELEC expects the screening to last until September.
