It was not Pres. Benigno Aquino III who pushed for the tax evasion case against former top magistrate Renato Corona and two others, according to presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.

Lacierda iterated that the top executive is not behind the current case filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) against Corona and Carlo and Constantino Castillo III.

Lacierda said that the Php150 million tax case is not the only tax evasion case filed by the government bureau against tax evaders.

Lacierda also divulged that BIR Commissioner Kim Henares has strong evidence to prove that the impeached chief justice and the couple did defy the law.
