They say three times the charm but for University of the East’s center Chris Javier, it’s the first that made the biggest charm of them all.

Chris Javier’s first attempt beyond the arc won the match for the red shirts with after Roi Sumang dished him the ball because of UP’s pesky defense.

The Warriors were triumphant with a score of 79-76 against the University of the Philippines Maroons, getting revenge from their loss in the first round of eliminations in the 75th UAAP men’s basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Javier shared the spot light with Sumang with both of them ending the game with 20 points apiece.

The win is a first for Boycie Zamar who returns after coaching the team during the time of James Yap and Paul Artadi.

Meanwhile, it was UP’s Mike SIlungan who led his team, garnering 16 points.
