PHL continues win in Chess Olympiad

The Philippine men’s team are on winning streak after defeating their eight round foes, England, with 3-1 in the World Chess Olympiad in Isatnbul, Turkey.

Iloilo native Grandmaster Rizal based Eugene Torre and team mate GM Oliver Barbosa both disposed of their rivals to push the country’s rank at second with USA, China, Germany, and Armenia with 13 points.   

Russia remains at top with 15 points.

The women’s team, on the other hand, failed to get another win and lost to their American counterparts with a score of 0.5-3.5.

The Philippine women team has pushed them lower to 23rd rank with only 10 points.

The men’s team will battle it off with China for their next match.
