Water bills up; electricity price down
Metro Pacific Investments Corp. and DMCI Holdings Inc. joint venture, Maynilad, and Ayala led Manila Water will both increase the price of water this month while Manila Electric Co. (MERALCO) will be implementing a price rollback on electricity.
The hike in the water bills is due to the Foreign Currency Differential Adjustment (FCDA) is a tariff from loan payments and foreign currency borrowings of the companies and of the Metro Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).
Maynilad will be implementing a Php0.89 per cubic meter hike while Manila Water will be adding Php0.39 per cubic meter in the water bill.
MERALCO, on the other hand, has decreased its electricity bill by Php1.73 per kilowatt hour after the Malampaya natural gas facility went back to its normal operations.
