Lower chamber starts marathon budget session

The lower chamber’s deliberation for the government’s budget for 2013 which amounts to Php2 trillion started on Monday morning and is expected to be given much attention for two straight weeks.

House Majority Leader Neptali Gonzalez II said that they will be putting much attention for the 2013 national budget, extending the regular sessions until afternoon and nullifying the four day work week to five days.

The lower house also announced that they will suspend public hearings, for the meantime, in order to make sure that they will not be disturbed while discussing the 2013 national budget.

The lower chamber has until two weeks to finalize the budget allocation for the next year before it goes to the upper house for the second passing.
