Japeth steps closer to dreams; tries out for NBA
Japeth Aguilar is slowly inching to his dream of playing in the illustrious NBA basketball league by trying out before the league’s coaches and impressing the coach of the Bakersfield Jam, a Fil-Am newspaper reported.
The Asian Journal reported that Aguilar showed athleticism and swift in front of the NBA and the NBA Development League coaches in the US while trying out along with 80 players.
The newspaper reported that the 25 year old Kapampangan was one of the top 20 players among dribblers who showed their skills inside the court.
Asian Journal quoted Will Voigt of the Bakersfield Jam saying, “Japeth is an intriguing player. Obviously, he has length and athleticism. He’s been playing as a four or a five (power forward/center) in the Philippines, we’ll have to transition him into a three (small forward). But he’s shown flashes throughout the weekend that makes you want to see more.”
