XP loses top OS spot against Windows 7

XP has reigned supreme as the top operating system among personal computers and laptops over the years. Its reign, however, now ends after its successor takes the number one spot as the most popular OS among users.

Technological website Mashable reported that Windows 7 has now overtaken its predecessor, XP, garnering 42.76 percent with the latter getting 42.52 percent, citing the data from Net Applications.

Coming in third is another Microsoft product, the Windows Vista, with 6.15 percent.

Meanwhile, Apple Inc.’s Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) ends at the fourth and fifth spot getting 2.45 percent and 2.38 percent of the market’s attention.

Three years after the launch of Windows 7, Microsoft will now be bannering a new OS, the Windows 8, which will be launched before the year ends.
